I wish they would release info about staredit for SC2

I assume they are going to give us all the standard features from Staredit and at least most of the features from the WC3 editor. But I'm wondering if they will do something new. Like the LUA code for WoW mods would give us a lot more control. Or allowing us to make custom load screens/objective screen data with our own sound clips and such.

I always wanted to make my own full blown MP campaign. Setup like the single player campaign with story-line, special units, having the evolution of the tech trees through the levels, and so on. But you could never tie them together like the singleplayer campagin and the story screen was limited at best.

everything you want for the next Staredit was possible for the wc3editor , you can do tremendous things with it , and i don't know how they could improve it more that it is.
But if they can they will surely do it , they know how important this is for the community , it helps to keep their game alive or to make it live more than ever .
I think you know how the DoTa mod ( wc3 ) community is huge , and it's only a wc3 mod !
you can change anything you want , from screenloader to music you hear in the game ( there is a mod where you listen to an accelerate version of numb from linkinpark , quite funny :> )

Seriously , there is nothing to be afraid of about the staredit , i'm sure it's gonna be a faboulous tool with great possibility , I assume this won't be easy to use ^^

yeah I have no doubt it will be at the minimum as good as the WC3 editor. But even that editor had limits on what you can and can't do.

I actually ran across some info the other day. Not sure how accurate it is but they say that the standard part of the editor will be much like the WC3 editor with a few extra options, and intended for beginner and intermediate modders. What they will add for the advanced modders is a C like scripting language which supposedly gives you complete control over any map.

I personally wanted to develop some game types I've always wanted in SC but you could never get. King of the Hill, Territory Control, Base Defend, etc. King of the Hill is a great FFA game type and could make the FFA tournaments/leagues popular. Territory Control and Base Defend are great team game types and add a lot of extra strategy to a team game.

With the new C like scripting it sounds like this should be possible.
